I have an AMD Athlon XP 1800+ CPU in my first computer, bought in 2003.
I have also an Intel i7 860 CPU in the second computer, bought at the beginning of 2010.
AMD Athlon XP 1800+ runs at 1533MHz and it's single core. (position 753)
Intel i7 860 runs at a default frequency of 2800MHz, but it can scale up and down depending of the performed tasks and can go as up as 3400MHz by itself, without user modifications. Also, it's a quad core processor. (position 17)
Yes, the IT technology progressed so much in 7 years, but let's see how it will perform from now on.
It will follow the Moore law I guess.
So, each month I want to post the progress made by the IT industry, by having the i7 860 processor ranked among actual and future CPU models.
